DearMobineko. I will be ordering cutting vinyl soon. I have a question. I read your “FAQ on vinyl mastering notes”. It says “We generally prefer that clients send us a regular stereo mix and we will apply the correct mono summing on bass frequencies as appropriate” and ” Very heavy bass (constant dance / sub woofer type bass) might have to be summed mono at 600-800hz for good results. 600-800hz is a very safe figure intended 600-800hz is a very safe figure intended to stop mastering amateurs completely screwing up their vinyl with out of phase bass”. This time, my music contains stereo and side components below 800 Hz. Should I send audio data with these components processed mono, or should I process the side (reversed phase) components using EQ ? Or should I send it as it is without processing? Thank you for your consideration.
Please send our audio without processing. It's best for the cutting engineer to make these decisions. It may not be necessary to apply elliptic EQ depending on the length and type of material.
Hi, the mastering engineer I am working with offers the option to master for vinyl - if I go ahead with this option, does this mean that no further mastering or processing of the audio is needed by Mobienko, and they can go directly into production? Thanks
Hi! It's very rare that we receive a master that can be cut with absolutely no processing whatsoever. We suggest contacting your Mobineko rep for more assistance.
